Making the Most of Black & White Quartz Tiles
Quartz tiles are one of the more popular tiles used in kitchens and bathrooms and for good reason. They come in a wide variety of colours and sizes and the quartz content gives each tile the distinctive sparkle which makes them so popular. Another reason for the popularity of quartz tiles is their durability, and as such are now being used more commonly than traditional floor coverings such as lino or cork tiles, which tend to succumb to wear and tear after a few years of use. Not only are they hard wearing but are also very easy to clean either by mopping, scrubbing or just sweeping.
As mentioned, quartz floor and wall tiles are available in a wide variety of colours and styles, so you’ll not be stuck trying to find a design to work perfectly with your existing kitchen or bathroom design. Currently one of the most popular tiles are the midnight black quartz tiles which make walls and floors shimmer, giving your kitchen of bathroom a high class finish. Depending on your tastes, these black tiles can be grouted with either a matching black grout or a contrasting white grout. This works especially well in rooms where you want to give the illusion of greater space. It’s only fair to point out that these black tiles do work best in a room with plenty of natural light, or alternatively a room with a selection of up or down lighters, as, in spite of the glimmering quartz, they don’t spread the light around as much as a paler tile might.
If black isn’t your thing, on the opposite side of the tonal spectrum are the equally popular diamond white quartz tiles. These work perfectly in rooms which could do with a little brightening up, possibly due to only having small window or two. Their gloss white finish, coupled with the shimmering quartz really does brighten up the gloomiest of rooms, especially in older properties where often the bathroom and kitchen traditionally had much smaller windows than the reception or bedrooms.
A combination of both black and white quartz tiles could be just the thing to give your home a more contemporary feel, and I’m not talking about the chess board effect. For example, white wall tiles with a black frieze or white floor tiles with a black mosaic border could create a very contemporary feel. This could also work well in and entrance hall if you have the space, as tiles aren’t restricted to the kitchen and bathroom only.
